Falcons overcome All comers challenge

The Falcons attended their first meet of the season, All Comers Challenge, at Lake Brantley HS this past Saturday 1/9/2021.

The Falcons came prepared to compete against Florida's athletes in the opening meet with Josiah Hurst, Alanah Irby, Camille Irby, Sophia Ventura and Nahla McCrae in the 60m dash. It was an overcast morning but the Falcons spread their wings even with the cloud cover. In the U6 Boys division, Josiah posted a 13.59 in his first ever 60m dash. Knowing Josiah, he will beat that mark soon enough. Alanah and Camille ran well in their U6 and U8 60m dashes. We are excited to see what they can do with some more training under their belts. Sophia and Nahla took the track next to compete in the U12 60m dash where each posted great starting marks (9.88 for Sophia) and Nahla taking home the #1 overall spot and a gold medal. Alanah wasn't done competing and posted a 1:24.48 in the U8 300m dash. Seamus Segesdy took the track for the first time and posted a 65.39 second time in the U8 boys 300m dash. His determination to beat that time will show throughout the coming competitions.

Nahla once again dominated her age group taking the #1 overall spot in the U12 girls 300m dash pulling away with 10m to go to take the win and the gold medal. Seamus Segesdy and Jason Coulthart were the lone 600m runners for the Falcons and each ran well. Jason took home bronze in the Masters 300m men's division and the gold in the Masters 600m men's division. Seamus placed 2nd in the U8 600m division and took home a silver medal. The adult squad travels to Frostproof, FL this weekend for the Warrior Invite. Check out our upcoming events on our blog and social media platforms.
